Survey Entry - Entering a survey pair (advanced user)

Entering a survey pair in 'Advanced User' mode is much the same as in 'Regular' mode, only it is streamlined to make it quicker once you are comfortable with the dialog. Make sure the 'Advanced' radio button on the second page of the dialog is selected, and you will see fields for entering data in the upper left box, which is titled 'Enter Survey Pairs'.

Enter the bearing in the box marked 'Bearing', in the format written above the box. All Degrees, Minutes, and Seconds must be two digits long, i.e. N 9° 30' E should be entered n09-30e and N 12° 0' 32" W should be entered n12-00-32w.If your survey doesn't contain seconds (or minutes) you can leave them off (i.e. s52-30w or n45e ). Put a hyphen between the degrees, minutes, and seconds as shown in these examples; don't put in symbols after the numbers. Use the tab key to get to the 'Distance' box (this saves time, as you don't need to use the mouse) and type in the distance. After entering the distance, you can hit the Enter key from this box, which has the same effect as clicking the 'Add' button with the mouse. The cursor will then return to the 'Bearing' box automatically. In this way, you can keep entering pairs without using the mouse at all.
