V
The Attribute Entry Dialog

Launch Attribute Entry button

Click on this button (it is located on the Main Menu dialog) to launch the Attribute Entry dialog. Choose a theme to edit. If your theme is a point theme, you have the option to add, move, and delete points as well as edit their attributes if you want to. You will be asked if you want to enable these additional functions before the dialog opens.

Dialog overview

The Attribute Entry dialog enables you to edit the attributes (the table data that is attached to each feature) of your theme. You can edit the attributes of any theme (point, line, or polygon) that is an ArcView shapefile (not an image, grid, or coverage), providing you have write access to it. The dialog gives you an easy, visual way to edit attributes by selecting the shape you want and typing in the desired data. The dialog can also be used as a point entry tool; you can add, delete, and move points and type in their attributes as you go.

This dialog is just an alternate way to enter attributes; many users may already be familiar with entering attributes into a Table document. Use whichever method you find most comfortable and efficient.
