Survey Entry - The Draw tool
Draw tool
The Draw tool enables you to 'test' your survey by drawing it onto the display as a graphic (which you can delete easily by hitting the delete key with the View as the active window and the graphic selected (Windows environment only--otherwise select the graphic using the View's and click the menu choice)). Once you have entered your survey (or part of it) into the dialog, click on the Draw tool and then click on the View's display to draw your survey. This is useful because you can visually ascertain whether you have entered the survey correctly as well as get an idea of what the survey looks like if you got the survey coordinates from a deed or other source where there is no drawing of the parcel. You can draw it as a line, a polygon, or a series of points. If you choose to draw it as a graphic polygon, it will tell you how far off the two endpoints are and will warn you if the line crosses itself, as well as tell you the area of the polygon thus created. This is useful only if the survey is supposed to 'close' itself (if it is supposed to begin and end at the same point). Otherwise, choose to draw it as a graphic line.
The Draw tool will draw your survey as a shapefile feature if you have a theme in editable mode when you use it. This works for any type of feature.
